Interview featured at Jornal Comunidades Lusófonas
I was invited to give an interview to the Jornal Comunidades Lusófonas. You can read the original interview here.
In the interview, I reflect on my academic journey, which began in Portugal and led me to an international research career in the UK, and now at Imperial College London. I consider that my training in Portuguese universities gave me a strong theoretical and analytical foundation, preparing me well for a competitive global academic environment.
In the UK, I have been working in highly international and collaborative settings, developing research with real-world impact. I have felt welcomed in the UK academic system and have seen Portuguese researchers held in high regard. I believe Portugal has excellent research talent and tried to highlight what I believe could be benefitial for the future: a greater pedagogical focus in practice, stronger investment in international visibility, and closer links between academia and industry.
